The UK Energy Research Centre publishes its annual review of UK energy policy – a stocktake of progress over the last year which reveals a very mixed picture. The 2023 review highlights the energy policy priorities for the next government and states that, without an immediate step-change in implementation, the UK will miss its 2030 target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 68% and be off track for the mid-century goal of net zero.
The report will cover local energy, gas security and demand, heat pumps, electric vehicles and electricity networks. Come to this online briefing to hear from three of the authors.
Speakers included:
Prof Peter Taylor, UKERC Co-Director and Professor of Sustainable Energy Systems at the University of Leeds
Prof Michael Bradshaw, UKERC Co-Director and Professor of Global Energy at the University of Warwick
Prof Jan Webb, Professor of Sociology of Organisations at the University of Edinburgh
