This report summarises the findings of an Ipsos poll commissioned by the SMC to explore where the public get their information about science from.

As part of its 20th anniversary the SMC commissioned Ipsos to run a public poll to try to find out where people get information about science from; what the sources are of science information they are seeing on social media; how much they trust science information from traditional news media versus social media; and the reasons they do or don’t trust scientists.
In 2022, the year of the SMC’s twentieth anniversary, the Centre undertook a repeat of the strategy review carried out for the tenth anniversary. This paper sets out the results of the review, and the revised strategy that has arisen from it. The SMC’s Board of Trustees approved and adopted this new strategy in October 2022.
